RTX 4090 to Offer 24GB GDDR6X VRAM, RTX 4080, 4070 Detailed
The rumor mill is abuzz once again as Nvidia’s next-gen Ada Lovelace GPUs draw closer. Notable tipster @kopite7kimi is offering new details in the Twittersphere on what Nvidia has in store for gamers in the fall. This time around they’re shedding some new light on top three GPUs in the product stack, which will likely be the first to launch. In a series of new tweets, @kopite7kimi the for these upcoming GPUs. As has been reported previously, the flagship die will be AD102. Interestingly, the top-shelf “Lovelace” GPU will be outfitted with 24GB of GDDR6X running at 21Gb/s. This is the exact same configuration as the current RTX 3090 Ti.

Intel Arc GPUs Reportedly Delayed, Again

Intel Arc GPUs Reportedly Delayed, Again
It wasn’t even a month ago that it was reported Intel was facing delays for the launch of its highly-anticipated Arc desktop GPUs. Several weeks later, we now have reports that the new launch window could be “late summer.” This seems to confirm the previous rumors, and is just one more bit of bad news for the GPU world. Many gamers hoped Intel would successfully launch Arc with solid performance and competitive prices. Delays don’t necessarily change that expectation, but it certainly doesn’t boost peoples’ confidence in Intel’s ability to take on AMD and Nvidia. That’s especially true as we inch closer to the launch of both companies’ next-generation offerings.

Meta Facing Mass Employee Exodus, Will Limit Hiring in 2022

(Photo: Dima Solomin/Unsplash)From the outside, Meta (formerly Facebook) appears to be having a tough time—but Mark Zuckerberg insists everything’s peachy. In fact, Meta might be roughing it on purpose. The social platform-turned-tech conglomerate enjoyed a “better-than-expected” in late April as it shared its Q1 2022 revenue, but that might be its last hurrah for a short while. Meta’s current revenue forecasts are bleak: the company expects to take a hit as Russia continues its war on Ukraine, causing both user registration and advertising demand to take a dip. There’s also Apple’s new App Tracking Transparency (ATT) feature, which limits advertisers’ ability to view an iOS user’s unique identifier (required for targeted ads).

(Photo: Michael Förtsch/Unsplash)The Seattle Police Department is testing a brain stimulation device to see if it has a positive effect on employees’ mental wellbeing. The device is a part of a larger effort to promote wellness across the organization as well as “normalize access to self-care,” to Loren Atherly, SPD’s director of performance analytics and research. While SPD has historically sought to protect employees’ mental wellness through peer support, Atherly’s team has been looking into less traditional means that may also help reduce the effects of job-related stressors. Enter the Fisher Wallace Stimulator, which New York-based Fisher Wallace Labs claims helps reduce symptoms in those with depression, anxiety, or insomnia.

NiceHash Cracks Nvidia’s Hash Rate Limiter For GeForce 30-Series GPUs

NiceHash Cracks Nvidia’s Hash Rate Limiter For GeForce 30-Series GPUs
It’s a good day for miners out there struggling to make ends meet in the face of Nvidia’s Lite Hash Rate (LHR) GPUs. The mining platform NiceHash has announced it’s finally defeated Nvidia’s anti-mining technology that reduces cards’ hash rates. Unlike similar announcements in the past, this one appears to be legit. The only caveat is that it works on most, but not all, Nvidia 30-series GPUs. The company made the announcement in a , saying most Nvidia LHR GPUs could now mine at 100 percent with its software. Prior to this, LHR-enabled GPUs were only able to mine at about 50 percent of their maximum capacity for Ethereum.

NASA Suspended Perseverance Operations to Save Mars Helicopter

NASA Suspended Perseverance Operations to Save Mars Helicopter
It’s hard to overstate the importance of NASA’s rover, which is only beginning its exploration of the red planet. This robot is bristling with advanced instruments that could help reveal evidence of past Martian life, but this has almost been overshadowed by a mere technology demonstration that was along for the ride. NASA’s Ingenuity helicopter has exceeded all expectations, but its days might be numbered. Following a recent power issue, NASA . It worked, but the approaching winter likely means the end for the history-making helicopter. Perseverance is based on the Curiosity chassis, a design we know from experience is robust enough to survive years on Mars.

(Photo: Etienne Girardet/Unsplash)Gassy cows have long borne the brunt of the blame for greenhouse gas emissions, but this is the first time we’ve been able to confirm their output from space. GHGSat Inc. makes and operates remote sensing technology with the goal of tracking global emissions. On March 2, the company sent a group of high-resolution satellites (which it says are each about the size of a microwave oven) into orbit to track emissions from cows in the Bear 5 feedlot in California’s San Joaquin Valley. The satellites detected a total of five emissions ranging from 361 to 668 kilograms per hour.

AMD Brings Its Zen 3 Architecture, Up to Eight CPU Cores to Chromebooks
AMD has announced its bringing its newest 5000-series Zen 3 processors to the high-end Chromebook market. The company announced four CPUs that are Chromebook-bound; all are 15w parts. The big news is the top-shelf chip, the Ryzen 7 5825C, is an 8C/16T part, which is the highest core/thread count ever for a Chromebook. AMD is promising the new chips will bring more performance, longer battery life, and advanced features like Wi-Fi 6E to this budget notebook category. The announcement is a long time coming. The company previously launched its 3000-series processors for Chromebooks back in 2020, so it’s been awhile.

Museum Uses $10,000 of Video Equipment to Make GoldenEye 007 Multiplayer Even Better
Almost 25 years ago, a little game called GoldenEye 007 came out on the Nintendo 64. The game had a stupendous single-player mode based on the 1995 Bond movie of the same name, but it introduced a lot of gamers to multiplayer shooters for the first time. The Centre for Computing History in Cambridge, UK is by making the iconic multiplayer mode even better. Instead of sharing one screen, players each get their own. All it took was $10,000 of professional video equipment. It’s hard to overstate how much GoldenEye changed gaming. Today, you can fire up a game on your computer, console, or even a phone and instantly connect to other players.
